Villa Borghese

Thursday, September 26th Laura and I had the whole day to explore in Rome, so we decided to venture to the Villa Borghese which is a really big green park where people go running, have picnics, walk their dogs, take their children to play, and sit and enjoy nature. On the way we passed this pink house which I love and had to take a picture of! At the Villa Borghese there is also a famous galleria full of a collection of art, however you have to have a ticket to get in and the tickets were already sold out. So we will have to go back to see the art, but Laura and I took a variety of cheeses, bread, tomatoes, apples, and red wine and had a picnic in the part of the park where a lot of people walk their dogs. We didn’t really realize this until we were settled down, eat, and looking around. On the plus side, we saw a lot of cute dogs! Our picnic was wonderful and fresh and it was really nice to sit and talk in the park.

After our picnic, we walked around and saw fountains, monuments, arches, museums, flowers, trees, and piazzas. We also found out that Rome has their own Globe Theater, and it looks exactly like the Globe Theater in London!

We finally found another spot to settled down and Laura sketched while I took a nap in the grass under some huge trees. When I woke up I realized we were right next to the playgrounds and kids section of the park. We really picked the happening places in the park today! I sketched a fountain and two different parts of a monument of Umberto, as well as took pictures which are below! *I love how the park is in the shape of a heart! Check out the map!

For dinner, I met Alicia and Candice at a Dim Sum Chinese Restaurant close to the Tiber River. Candice ordered for the table, and we split a variety of dumplings, chicken and rice balls, and sushi. Each dish was very small but very flavorful!

For dessert, I had my first Italian Cannoli from the affordable gelato shop behind the apartments in Trastevere and it was delicious!

I stayed up late packing and getting ready for my weekend full of day trips in Italy! Heading to the train station early Friday morning to head to Florence with Candice and Rosa!
